What is Our Mission?
The primary mission of Makerspace Forsyth is to bring learning through making and sharing to our community. Our environment is open to anyone with an interest in being creative and sharing his/her projects and ideas with others. Our focus is on STEM/STEAM or rather propagation of resources for learning in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.
Where are We Located?
We are located at 327 Dahlonega Street #202B, Cumming, GA 30040. To access the space enter through #202A and take the stairs down to the lower level. For directions, please click here.
How much space do we have?
We have about 1030 square feet of space. We have a tech lounge for just hanging out or having group discussions. We also have a dedicated classroom and lecture room which will double as our “theater” on movie nights. The benchtop manufacturing room is currently outfitted with a 3D printer and laser cutter. We will have a CNC machine very soon. Last, but not least is our robotics lab. There is a small kitchenette available for preparing lunches and the occasional snack item. Coffee is a given. 🙂
What is Our Primary Area of Focus?
We are STEAM (a variation of STEM with a component of art added) enabled. We will cover areas from science and technology to art and everything in between. Imagine being able to make your own jogging suit and then being able to install wearable technology to help keep track of your exercise routine. That’s just one example. Why buy a generic running suit when you can make one that fits you perfectly and runs software tweaked to your specific needs?
