During this class we will take a look into a historical method artists used to bolster their creativity individually and as a group, designing an overall piece of art.  Through this method, artists would “section” off parts of an overall piece of art, having each artist create their individual pieces.  As a group they would come together to then create a cumulative masterpiece.  Taking this same process, students will 3D print individual simple machines, and then work creatively as a group to build one machine from all the parts.

This class will:

  • Be an exciting way to leverage the design process from art in the area of engineering
  • Foster creativity both individually and as a group
  • Encourage group participation, interaction and communication
  • Help understand the design thinking process
