Makerspace Forsyth

We’ll be trying to wrap up all the construction and testing on these so we can pack them up for delivery this Thursday.  Makerspace Forsyth has taken on the goal to provide solar powered lanterns to 21 orphans in the village of Bongoma in Kenya.  These lanterns are intended to be a safer, healthier alternative to the more commonly used kerosene lanterns that children often use for reading and doing schoolwork at night.

This build session will include soldering LEDs into 21 walkway lights in order to make them useful as solar powered lanterns.  The mechanical assembly is done so we just need to solder the LEDs and pack the lights up for transport.  If you’re up to the challenge, we could use you.  Due to space limitations we will have to limit this to 6 volunteers.

For more information on the project, go here:

If you can’t make it to the build you can still contribute by following the previous link and funding one of the lanterns using one of the convenient PayPal buttons.
