This event is a robotics themed maker day.  We start with a half hour presentation on robotics, followed by a build session where participants build their own very own robot from a kit.  The closing activities will encourage makers to share their ideas on robotics and show what their robot can do.  Depending on attendance we will finish the day with robot joust, robot obstacle course or a combination of those.

Attending maker mentors:

  • Andres Torres
  • Raquel Torres
  • Gary Benjamin
  • Jeff Hamilton

Age group:
Ages 8 and up should do well.  If your maker is under the age of 12 we ask that you stay with us during the full event.

What’s in the kit:
In the spirit of making, it’s a very simple design featuring a motorized robotic chassis made from a Baltic birch plywood disc that each maker is encouraged to customize using markers, paints and other materials.  Motors, wheel stubs, battery holder, and switches will also be supplied in the kit among other parts in order to make the robot come to life.  This kit is the no solder version made for beginners.  Makers are also encouraged to experiment with these parts in order to make their robot unique as well as change the way it operates in the closing activities.  Mentors will be available throughout to answer any questions and provide guidance where needed.

Billing & Payments:
You will receive an email at the address you provided during registration with a PayPal invoice attached.  As soon as you pay the invoice your seat/seats will be confirmed for the event.  Don’t worry, if you don’t use PayPal, you will have several payment options available at checkout.

If you are a parent or guardian bringing a maker/makers to the event you can grab yourself an observer seat.  It’s free to observe.  🙂
